Most Animals Have Medullae That Are Either Continuous or Interrupted Quizlet
The other night I got sorted into Hufflepuff. I thought I'd get Ravenclaw, but nope.
Honey Badger don't care.
I'm working on an Ode to Hufflepuff now.
Among the animal zodiac, Dog individuals are the most humanitarian. To the Chinese, Dogs represent justice and equality. These are the givers in life, prepared to sacrifice their own dreams, ambitions and desires for the sake of others, particularly for those they love. Fiercely loyal to those they love, Dogs are ever ready to jump to the defense of any member of their family or friends who is being attacked by either word or deed. They have a penchant for championing the underdog. Born with an innate sense of decency and a need for equilibrium in a chaotic world, Dogs strongly denounce injustice and wrongdoing, generously giving useful and effective advice to those around them. Their warmth, empathy and genuine interest in others win them many close friendships. Dogs inspire confidence in others, and the confidence is justified. They will always do their utmost for others, and their dedication can go to the point of sacrifice. Dog people deserve to be held in the highest esteem.
The Dog makes a faithful, honest and courageous friend, and has a deep sense of justice. These people tend to be both magnanimous and prosperous, yet they can also be dogged, guarded, and defensive. Because they genuinely feel they know best, they can sometimes appear bossy. They accomplish goals quickly, their successes the result of hard work and intelligence. But the Dog never really relaxes. Despite appearing calm and at rest, his heart and mind are always jumping.
The Dog is an introvert who rarely shows his feelings; when he does it's only because he thinks it is absolutely necessary. He's stubborn in the extreme and knows what he wants. Frequently cynical, he is feared for his sharp tongue and his acid and disagreeable remarks. He gives the impression of looking systematically for faults in everything he touches. This is because he is the world's biggest pessimist and expects nothing out of life.
With their forthright honesty and true moral integrity they soon become pillars of society, respected for their views and trusted by all who come to know them. Because they have the knack of gaining backing from important people, their careers are often brilliant. Dogs find it difficult to adapt to change, perhaps because they have a reputation for being innately pessimistic and expect the worst to happen. They have a tendency to become wistful and nostalgic about the past. Of all the animals in the Chinese Zodiac, Dogs are the least materialistic for they are unselfish individuals who care more about people than they do about money or success. It doesn't worry them to be without the material comforts. Even if they are in the money, their tastes are simple enough. But if by any chance they should suddenly and urgently need money, nobody is better equipped than them to get it!
The loyal Dog makes a splendid captain of industry, an active trade union leader, a priest, or an educator. but whatever his career, it will have in him a spokesman whose ideas will be profound and often original. Nations would do well to follow such champions, for under no other sign do we find united in the same person such uprightness, rectitude and passion for work allied to so little personal ambition.
The three phases of the life of the Dog are all marred by uncertainty: anxious childhood, difficult youth, middle-age defeatist before the work is to be done, and an old-age full of regrets for not having done enough.
It is said that a Dog born in daytime will be calmer and less anxious than one born during the night. It is at night that the dog's job is to guard the house -- and thus he will be eternally on the lookout, always on the alert, barking all the time to scare away intruders and finding no time to rest. For people born at night under this sign, it's a dog's life!
Under the influence of the Metal element, he can be unwavering in his convictions and highly critical of any infraction of the law, according to his own interpretation. However, his principles are of the highest kind and fundamentally, he is noble and charitable. If he finds an object or cause worthy of his devotion, he is capable of dedicating a lifetime to it. Yet he can be ruthless if aroused and will pursue his enemies until they are annihilated. His loyalty is unquestionable and he has strong political views. Never indecisive, he will pick a side and stay with it. Despite his hatred of injustice and foul play, he is capable of resorting to extreme measures when he demands that others subscribe to his views.

Yup. My neighbors have a small family of raccoons living in their chimney. I first noticed them one night while I was grilling with my girl.
I was sitting on the deck, glass of wine in hand, gazing at the sky though the trees at dusk. So pretty! And then movement caught my eye. What? Can it be..?
I asked my GILM (Girl I'd Like to Marry) if I was possibly hallucinating...or were there actually raccoons coming out of the top of the chimney?
Turns out: raccoons emerging like fat furry hats from the chimney.
*
Here is their routine:
- near dusk, emerge and sit atop chimney
- groom and scratch as it gets darker
- amble off chimney and trundle across roof
- shimmy down roof to garage, cross garage to stand of young trees
- climb tree to fence and prepare to jump on storage shed
- Oh look! Storage shed has Oreo cookies and other treats on it.
- gobble up treats
- wash hands in small bowl
- touch a lot of stuff repeatedly
- scamper off
*
If sister or brother shows up while eating: sit on food. If sibling attempts to eat, shove them away with your butt and back them slowly off the shed. Gobble up remaining food. Feel zero guilt.
I wish the Chihuly fountain had been on--I'll bet it's amazing. Especially at night!

Hey, buddy! This little guy hopped on me and ran around a bit, before I returned him to greener pastures.
Finally posting these pictures from last Summer. We found this little guy running back and forth across the driveway--bouncing off the thick grass edge, reversing, and running the opposite diretion. He/she did this several times while I was putting on thick, pink gloves, so I could catch him--and relocate him. Temporarily, he got dumped in the lawn clippings.
Hi, buddy!
So, here he is in an empty bag during transport:
Thought he was a mole at first, or a vole: but in fact, I think due it's pointy nose, this is a small shrew? SUPER cute! OMG--look at those little feet and that eye. I know he was scared and I feel badly about it--but we needed to move him away from the lawn mower.
And here he/she is, being released in a safer area:
Run, buddy! Be safe!
Found these two guys hanging out between the cars in the garage. They made webs exactly where the big dog runs through--so these guys had to go. I've found smaller black widow spiders in the garden in the past--but these guys were BIG and I just couldn't leave them where they were. Too worried about the dogs.
Sorry, guys. I'm generally a friend to bugs.
I've been looking at pictures of this modern fish bowl--a cool upgrade to an old standby. Found a few pics that help illustrate the size: scale's tricky without a decent reference point.
Tank comes in both white or black & can be stacked:
I was worried about how these bowls would stack without smothering the fish? But the top 'windows' are open--so when stacked, the surface of water sets well below these windows, & your fish get plenty of healthy air flow.
For another great size shot, here's a stack of small, mass-market paperbacks next to the 'hotel.' Quite a small container--I wouldn't want more than a couple small fish in there so they wouldn't be crowded.
I've seen some fish hotels with pretty rocks and some aquatic plants in them--looks nice and seems like a healthy environment. If you chose your little fish carefully so they were the right size, it would be a fab flat for your goldfish friends.
